Utopia, Now! is an open invitation to gather in unsettled times. In the face of climate crisis, political instability and technological upheaval, this season of events draws on long histories of utopian thought to ask how we might live, imagine and create differently - and why imagining new futures matters now more than ever.
"Now may not seem like the obvious time to run a season of cultural events on utopia. For many of us, the world that we're living in is a dangerous and uncertain world. So why do we want to think about utopia now?
The famous formulation is that utopian thought forms emerge when an old world is dying and a new world hasn't yet been born. And maybe every time fits that description, but our time fits it very powerfully. Now is a time when we need to invent new ways of seeing the world, new ways of inhabiting it. And Utopia Now! is trying to contribute to that mission."
