A new vision of the future, built from the dreams of the past.

From the Eiffel Tower in Paris in 1889 to the futuristic structures of Expo 2025 in Osaka, World’s Fairs have long offered spectacular visions of how we might live. In After Utopia, artist Marco Brambilla uses computer graphics and AI to transform iconic pavilions from 18 World Expositions across 136 years into a constantly shifting digital landscape, exploring what these past visions can tell us about the world we are creating today.

At a time when algorithms increasingly shape the spaces we inhabit, the images we encounter and the choices available to us, After Utopia asks what happens when technology begins to imagine our future for us.

Part of Utopia Now!, a season exploring the role of the arts in making a better future possible.
