Vocalist Chandrima Misra is a resident teacher at London’s Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, dedicated to the nurturing of Indian cultural traditions.

In this workshop, Chandrima will introduce the Bhajans (devotional music) of the 16th century poet Surdas, and explore the concept of darshan – the act of seeing and being seen by the divine.

Accompanied by harmonium, participants will learn to sing this intensely emotional music set to classical Hindustani Ragas in the Western Hindi language of Braj Bhasaha.

Part of Oxford Sings, a day-long celebration of singing in its many forms.
