What if you could journey inside your mind, and experience hearing becoming listening?

Night Song: Patterns of Perception is an immersive multisensory audiovisual installation exploring how the human brain understands sound through perception. Combining spatial audio, moving image and neuroscience, the work invites audiences on a journey deep into the mind to discover how we make sense of the sound world around us.

Developed by experiential artist collective Marshmallow Laser Feast and spatial sound artist James Bulley, within Night Song: Patterns of Perception audiences embark on a transcendent nighttime journey  guided by the song of a Nightingale. From the beak of the bird to the mur of consciousness, Night Song follows waves of sound that reveal our perceptual relationship with sound and our deep entanglement with the more-than-human world.

Night Song has been created in collaboration with leading scientists and thinkers, including University of Oxford professors Andrew King, David Kennerley, Morten Kringelbach and Fiona Stafford, alongside Professor Anil Seth and philosopher David Abram. Night Song: Patterns of Perception brings together contemporary art, neuroscience and immersive technologies to reveal the hidden processes that shape how we experience the world.
