Handel’s great oratorio is one of the most celebrated choral works of the 18th century. A radical vision of faith and freedom.

Performed by the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists, under the direction of Christophe Rousset, this concert staging brings new light to Handel’s masterpiece.

Theodora is a much loved oratorio and a powerful 18th-century vision of utopia. Set in Roman-occupied Antioch, it tells the story of a Christian martyr who defies empire in the name of faith and freedom.

Theodora offers a vision of moral clarity, spiritual courage, and inner freedom. Its radiant music and intimate drama offer a vision of a better world: one governed by conscience, not coercion.

Part of Utopia Now!, a season exploring the role of the arts in making a better future possible.

The Monteverdi Choir has dominated the choral scene worldwide ... their singing remains wonderfully committed and scrupulously focused.
