In this recital, Ólafsson explores the musical kinship between Beethoven, Bach, and Schubert whose works speak across centuries with timeless emotional power. Throughout the programme, he reveals the lyrical depth and resonance that connect these composers across generations, ending with the profound beauty of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 30 in E Major, Op. 109.
Olafsson will also share the story of his selection of the Steinway D grand piano for the Schwarzman Centre Sohmen Concert Hall and introduce the instrument to Oxford’s audiences.
