This event is a collaboration between Oxford Preservation Trust and RIBA Oxfordshire and is exclusively open to members of Oxford Preservation Trust and RIBA.

Join Oxford Preservation Trust and RIBA Oxfordshire for their joint annual lecture, this year given by Andrew Barnett, Principal at Hopkins Architects. Andrew will discuss the practice's recently completed project the Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities at the University of Oxford, a world-class hub for the Humanities in Oxford, bringing academic excellence and cultural activity together under one roof. Andrew will be discussing the design and use of the building.

In the year since it opened, the Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities has seen thousands of people coming through its doors each day. In its design, build and now its emerging academic, cultural and civic life it is bringing together academics, students, creatives and the community to explore in new ways, the manner in which the humanities shape lives and help us make sense of a complex world.

The development of the brief and its realisation in the design have created a palette on which the University has already been able to strengthen the traditions of the teaching of the Humanities alongside new possibilities previously unforeseen.
