Gala screening of Oxford anthology film project created by students

The Oxford Tales is a large-scale, student filmmaking project created by the Oxford University Filmmaking Foundation. Developed with mentorship from filmmaker Mike Newell (whose directing credits include films such as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and Donnie Brasco) and producing partner Cleone Clarke (The Father, Loving Vincent), the project invited students to create short film screenplays responding to Oxford as a city, university and institution rich in history and tradition.

Five winning scripts were selected from 100 submissions to form the basis of an anthology film, a format designed to be as accessible and inclusive as possible to all students looking to get involved in filmmaking, regardless of prior experience, resources or connections. Since launch, the project has built five filmmaking teams and engaged over 100 Oxford students across all stages of production, giving them a chance to develop skills, showcase talent and meet future collaborators with a shared passion for cinema.

This gala screening presents the completed short films together in the Schwarzman Centre Cinema with an introductory panel featuring Mike and Cleone.

Prompt start.
