Join us at the Schwarzman Centre for an extraordinary in-conversation event between acclaimed jazz pianist, composer, and educator Darius Brubeck and Philip Clark, music journalist and author.

As the eldest son of jazz pioneer Dave Brubeck, Darius offers a rare first-hand perspective on one of the most influential musical legacies of the twentieth century.

Presented as part of the Oxford Chamber Music Festival 2026, this event complements the festival's New Worlds theme by exploring the American jazz tradition and its lasting influence. Combining storytelling with a live piano performance, Darius brings to life the cross-cultural rhythms, innovations and musical ideas that transformed the soundscape of the Americas.

This isn’t just a talk - it is an intimate live musical experience. Darius will take to the piano for a special 15-minute live performance, treating the audience to the timeless jazz structures and improvisational magic that forged his unique artistic voice.

Don't miss this rare intersection of live performance, history and firsthand heritage, embodying the spontaneous connection that led The Observer to praise OCMF for ‘the highest level of music making’.

Duration: 1 hour
