Day of Psalms: Alumni Talk

Join us for an exclusive alumni drinks reception and a special discussion with Wes Williams, Professor of French Literature and Tutor in Modern Languages, as part of the Day of Psalms celebrations.

Wes will give a talk entitled: 'Renaissance Psalms: tradition, translation, and contestation'. The Renaissance was not only the rebirth of classical culture: the Psalms were also central to the creativity, change, and conflict which characterised a period we now commonly call ‘early modernity’. Exploring a number of significant moments in the contested history of the Psalms, this talk will discuss key interventions - through translation, commentary, and adaptation across the early modern world.

The event begins at 3pm with a welcome drink, followed by Professor Wes Williams’ talk. The event will finish at 4pm, leaving you time to enjoy the other performances taking place that day.

Please note that this ticket is for the alumni talk only and does not include admission to the Aurora Orchestra: Bernstein & Bach performance. Tickets for the performance must be purchased separately.
