A celebration of American music in all its depth and diversity, from rediscovered voices to bold new work.
Expressive, intimate chamber works, including music by William Grant Still and Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, feature alongside Frank Bridge’s richly textured ‘Phantasie’. At the concert’s heart is new work by composer and bandleader Cassie Kinoshi, whose ‘stillness: two meditations for piano quintet’ offers a reflective, contemporary counterpoint.
Based in the US, Sphinx Organisation works to widen access to music education, championing young talent and amplifying voices historically underrepresented on concert stages. This evening’s concert will showcase the group’s spirit of inclusion, community and creative possibility.
