Dame Imogen Cooper, appearing as part of her last year on stage is joined by Roderick Williams, Sean Shibe, Julius Drake, Adrian Brendel, Alena Baeva and other Festival artists.

From the driving minimalist rhythms of Steve Reich’s Electric Counterpoint and the timeless beauty of Mozart’s final piano concerto to Barber’s evocative Dover Beach and UK premiere of Osvaldo Golijov’s Earth and Shadow, this eclectic and adventurous programme  crosses new worlds and traditions. Songs by Copland, Ives and Bernstein sit alongside Kern’s Ol’ Man River and a collection of traditional spirituals arranged by Roderick Williams, bringing together an evening of old worlds left behind and new worlds sung in to being.
