Emma Tring
Emma Tring studied Music at Bristol University and GSMD and is now a successful soloist and ensemble singer in the UK and abroad.
As a soloist Emma specialises in contemporary music and has premiered many works by composers including Sir James Macmillan, Michael Finnissy, John Pickard, Gabriel Jackson and Helöise Werner. Emma features on a BIS recording with Martyn Brabbins and BBCNOW of John Pickard’s song cycle Verlaine Songs, which he wrote for Emma.
She has performed as soloist with BBCNOW, BBCSO, BBCSSO, BBCCO, LSO, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, English Sinfonia, Nu Civilisation Orchestra, Orchestra of Opera North and Britten Sinfonia.
Emma is a long term member of BBC Singers and EXAUDI and she recently joined new vocal ensemble Vox Urbane whose aim is to promote diversity within choral music. Emma is also a keen recitalist and enjoys performing with her violinist husband Robin Martin in Alexandra Ensemble, and with Mezzo Soprano Lucy Goddard in their vocal duo Loud Cows.
This March Emma was creative director and soprano soloist in the world premiere of the Divine Feminine opera, co-created by Shiva Feshareki and Karen McCarthy Woolf, at St Martin in the Fields. She was joined by BBC Singers Upper Voices, Vox Next Gen, Karin de Fleyt of Hermes Ensemble and guest singer Mary Pearce.
She will be performing Chemistry of Angels this October, a Chamber piece written for her by Nick Korth and introducing his magical new instrument the Harmonic Sail!
Also, this November Emma is thrilled to be taking the role of Angel Gabriel in Errollyn Wallen’s new community opera ‘A Christmas Miracle’ with Mahogany Opera in Orford Church.
