Sound and Transformation with Sigur Rós

Join us for this special chance to hear members of Sigur Rós (bassist Georg Holm, and keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson) in discussion with some of the people who’ve come together to bring Ára to life in Oxford. Hosted by Guardian critic Jude Rogers, the discussion will delve into the transformational power of sound and music, and ask what makes certain experiences so special.

Finn Moore Gerety, (researcher in Mantra and the role of sound in yoga and meditation) and Morten Kringelbach (Centre for Eudaimonia) will reveal the groundbreaking Oxford research project which has been built around the installation, while John Best, co-founder of Ara creators Loss><Gain and Alexis Paterson, Senior Music Programme Producer at the Schwarzman Centre, will tell the story of the project’s development and – along with Georg and Kjartan – ask why some music moves us the way it does.
