An evening of queer artistic resistance takes us from the midst of the Colombian armed conflict to the lives and struggles of LGBTIQ+ people here in Oxford.

Cuerpos Desahuciados Por El Olvido (Velásquez – Bodies Condemned by Oblivion) takes us deep into Colombia’s armed conflict through the moving story of two young men who become entangled in the violence and chaos of war, while coming to terms with their own love and sexuality. Forcibly recruited into the guerilla forces, the narrative follows our two protagonists as time weaves between an uncertain future of separation, and the raw presence of militancy.

The world premiere of this new translation into English is performed by local actors from the LGBTIQ+ community in Oxford, and formed in collaboration with Queer Voices from T(Art) Productions. Works developed through workshops with Díaz Calderon and Velásquez explore the commonalities and distinction of experiences of violence and artistic resistance across LGBTIQ+ cultures in the UK, Colombia, and Mexico.

The evening concludes with a discussion with the performers and artists on the processes of queer creation and art to confront violence.
